Shelby Anderson named AMC Softball Pitcher of the Week
St. Louis, Mo. (AMCSportsOnline.com) – Danielle Bayer of Missouri Baptist University and Shelby Anderson of Williams Baptist College have been named this week's American Midwest Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Bayer, a 5-7 senior for the Spartans, helped her squad to a 2-0 week with wins over conference opponents Stephens College and Harris-Stowe State University. The third baseman hit 0.714 with one walk, five RBI and six runs scored. The Florissant, Mo. native also smacked two doubles, a triple and collected two stolen bases. On the season Danielle is hitting 0.417 with 20 hits in 48 at-bats for Missouri Baptist.
Sophomore pitcher Shelby Anderson threw two gems for Williams Baptist last week, moving their season record to 24-2 for the No. 5 ranked Eagles. In her first outing of the week the 6-0 Mountain Home, Ark. native shutout Stephens College 9-0 in five innings, collecting five strikeouts and allowing just three hits. She followed that performance with a 5-0 win over No. 22 ranked Freed-Hardeman University, against shutting out her opponent and holding them to just four hits in seven innings. Shelby is 12-0 on the mound this year with a 1.09 ERA in over 70 innings of action. In addition, she leads the Eagles in batting average (0.471).
