Will Glass & Michelle Ogbemudia earn Sun Belt weekly track & field honors

After setting school records in their respective events at the Vanderbilt Invitational, Arkansas State track and field’s Will Glass and Michelle Ogbemudia earned Sun Belt Conference weekly honors, the league office announced Wednesday.
Glass was named the conference’s Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after breaking his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles while Ogbemudia received Women’s Field Athlete of the Week laurels after setting the school record in the weight throw.
In his season debut, Glass clocked a time of 7.74 in the 60-meter hurdles final to win the event in Nashville. The Jonesboro native ranks second in the conference entering the week and is tied for 16th best nationally.
Ogbemudia uncorked a league-leading throw of 20.73m (68-0.25) to break the program’s weight throw record, finishing as the No. 2 collegian in the invite section of the event on Friday. Saturday saw her place third among collegians in the shot put invite with a throw of 16.02m (52-6.75).
The newcomer has made a splash in her first season in the Scarlet and Black. In addition to leading the conference in the weight throw and ranking 20th nationally, Ogbemudia is second in the Sun Belt in the shot put with a mark of 16.14m (52-11.5), which ranks 25th in Division I.
