Arkansas State football beats Georgia State, becomes bowl eligible

ATLANTA (KAIT) - Arkansas State football is bowl eligible for the 2nd straight season.

The Red Wolves rushed for 261 yards, they beat Georgia State 27-20 Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. Jaylen Raynor led the A-State ground game with 114 yards. Ja’Quez Cross rushed for 76 yards and a score, Zak Wallace had 62 yards and 2 TDs.

Clune Van Andel connected on a 44 yard field goal in the 3rd quarter and a 52 yarder in the 4th. The freshman from Michigan set an A-State record with his 16th consecutive made FG.

The Red Wolves defense forced two turnovers. Justin Parks had a interception in the 2nd quarter, Trevian Thomas iced the victory with an INT in the final minutes.

Arkansas State improves to 6-4 on the season, 4-2 in Sun Belt play. They’ll conclude the regular season with back to back home games. A-State will host ULM on Saturday, November 23rd (2:00pm kickoff) and Old Dominion on Saturday, November 30th.
