Mayor delivers State of the City address
BATESVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) - Mayor Rick Elumbaugh gave his State of the City address to Batesville on Thursday, March 27, at the Batesville Community Center.
Mayor Elumbaugh focused on recognizing his city employees and city infrastructure in his speech.
He announced that they are doing a $25 million remake of Riverside Park. In that project, there will be a new event center and other new features as well.
“The event center it will seat a thousand. It will be on the entry way as you cross the White River bridge coming from the Southside community,” Elumbaugh said. “We have new sports courts, six pickleball courts, a couple tennis courts. All inclusive play, we’re spending a little over a $1,000,000 on the inclusive play.”
Mayor Elumbaugh said that he hopes the project will be completed by 2027 or sooner.
He also announced a new three-year water plan project that will help with the city’s water treatment and intake.
“Right now, we can treat about nine million gallons of water per day. This plant will increase that to sixteen million gallons and something that we can grow in the future and be a good 40 or 50-year fix for the community,” he said.
