Today in History: Feb. 3 - Roman Catholic Bishop Edward Fitzgerald celebrated his 40th anniversary as bishop in 1907

While he was bishop in Arkansas, he was one of only two bishops in the world to vote against Papal infallibility at the First Vatican Council.

(KAIT) - On February 3rd, 1907, the second Roman catholic Bishop of Little Rock, Edward Mary Fitzgerald, celebrated his 40th anniversary as bishop in Hot Springs, 18 days before he died.

While he was bishop in Arkansas, he was one of only two bishops in the world, and the only English speaking one to vote against papal infallibility at the First Vatican Council.
