WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (KAIT) - A Forrest City woman is behind bars after Arkansas State Police said she led troopers on a high-speed chase during rush hour.

19-year-old Kyla Morrow, of Forrest City, was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 24 on several charges including fleeing, aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.

According to a news release, at 7:42 a.m., Morrow’s vehicle was traveling at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour and passing on the shoulder, threatening public safety.

“As the vehicle approached the I-40 and I-55 split, the driver changed direction and headed southbound on I-55,” officials explained.

Morrow stopped the vehicle to avoid a trooper’s tactical vehicle intervention, reversed direction, and headed northbound in the southbound lanes of I-55.

“While traveling in the wrong direction on I-55, the driver collided head-on with a commercial 18-wheeler, disabling both vehicles,” ASP said.

Morrow abandoned her vehicle and ran on foot before being apprehended by a nearby trooper.

Both Morrow and the 18-wheeler driver declined medical treatment and reported no injuries, according to ASP.

Morrow is currently being held at the Crittenden County Detention Center on a $4,075 bond.
