Jonesboro teen to perform in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - The city of Jonesboro will be represented at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Native Lycci Pan submitted a video audition in February to be an auxiliary member of the Macy’s Great American Marching Band. An auxiliary member is one of the people who twirls the flags in a marching band.
The 17-year-old discovered she made the squad in March but still has not learned the routine.
“We have a week of rehearsal before, so I won’t know until the day I get there and have to learn it all in like a week,” Pan said.
Pan formerly attended school at Valley View before transferring to the Arkansas School of Mathematics, Science, and the Arts in Hot Springs.
She said it is rewarding to put the Natural State on the map.
“I’m so excited to be a part of this because the Thanksgiving Day Parade is nationally recognized, and not every student gets the opportunity to perform in it like I have this year,” Pan said.
She leaves on Tuesday, Nov. 19, to embark on her parade journey.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be broadcast live on Thursday, Nov. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on K8-NBC.
