Family of Arkansas man accused of driving corpse to Missouri speaks out

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) – The family of an Independence County man arrested following a shootout with Missouri police is speaking out.

According to Arkansas State Police, the body of 45-year-old Clara Blaxton of Independence County was found in 40-year-old Jarrett Cousins’ truck following a Dec. 8 shootout with police outside a Crystal City fast food restaurant.

Cousins’ family told our content partner, KARK-TV in Little Rock, that just hours earlier, they noticed something off with Cousins. As if he was trying to say his last goodbye.

“He said, ‘I love you. You know I love you.’ Gave me a hug and a kiss, and then he just left,” said his grandmother, Rose Davidson of Floral.
