Arkansas State men’s basketball wins Sun Belt regular season championship

MONROE, La. (KAIT) - There’s another milestone in a historic run for Arkansas State men’s basketball.
Bryan Hodgson’s Red Wolves beat ULM 94-67 Friday night in Monroe. That victory plus a Texas State win over James Madison created a four-way tie atop the Sun Belt. A-State, the Dukes, South Alabama, and Troy all claim the conference regular season championship, all four teams were 13-5 in league play.
Arkansas State captures their first SBC regular season title since the 1997-1998 campaign.
Five Red Wolves scored in double figures Friday night on the bayou. Joseph Pinion led the way with 21 points, Taryn Todd had 14 points, Derrian Ford 12, Dyondre Dominguez 11. Izaiyah Nelson recorded his 5th straight double-double, he had 13 points and 19 rebounds. The scarlet and black led by as much as 29 in the victory.
Arkansas State finishes the regular season 22-9 overall. They’ll be the #4 seed in the SBC Tournament due to tiebreakers. The Red Wolves play in the quarterfinals in Pensacola on Saturday, March 8th. Tipoff is at 5:30pm on ESPN+
