Arkansas State women’s basketball beats Arkansas for the first time since 2005

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KAIT) - A run of firsts continues for Red Wolves women’s basketball.
Mia Tarver led the way with 18 points, Arkansas State beat Arkansas 81-72 Sunday afternoon inside Bud Walton Arena. Zyion Shannon added 17 points, Crislyn Rose 15 points and 8 assists. It’s the first A-State victory over Arkansas since the 2005 WNIT. Destinee Rogers’ pack are the best in the nation in forcing turnovers, they forced 29 of them en route to their 9th straight win.
Former Melbourne Lady Bearkat Jenna Lawrence just missed a double-double for the Razorbacks (11-4), she had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Taleyah Jones led Arkansas in scoring with 18 points.
A-State improves to 11-3 on the season, their best start since the 2015-16 campaign. The Red Wolves resume Sun Belt play January 1st at Southern Miss.
