Police identify suspect accused of shooting man, dog
Victim remains in critical condition; dog died following surgery, police chief says
HARRISBURG, Ark. (KAIT) - A Harrisburg man is being held on a $250,000 bond after police say he shot a man and a dog.
Mitchell Eaton, 32, is being held in the Poinsett County Detention Center following his arrest on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, battery in the first degree and aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat or equine.

He’s accused of shooting Paul Wallin and a dog Friday morning at a home on Florida Street.
“Mr. Wallin was transported for emergency medical treatment and remains in critical condition at this time,” Harrisburg Police Chief Micheal Turner said. “The dog underwent surgery, but unfortunately died later Friday night as a result of its injuries.”
Officers identified Eaton as the suspect and took him into custody a short time later.
On Monday, March 16, he appeared before Circuit Court Judge Scott Ellington who found probable cause to charge Eaton and set his bond at $250,000 cash/surety, with the stipulation that he wear an ankle monitor.
Turner thanked the witnesses who provided valuable information.
“Your willingness to speak up helped us quickly identify the suspect and bring this situation under control,” Turner said.
He also thanked the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in the investigation.
