Man dies in three-vehicle crash in Independence County

SOUTHSIDE, Ark. (KAIT) - One person died and two others were injured this week in a three-vehicle crash in Independence County.

Arkansas State Police said the crash happened at 6:51 a.m. Monday, April 13, at the intersection of U.S. 167 and Nelly Belle Lane in Southside.

Eddie Ray Stuckey, 57, of Judsonia, was northbound when his 2012 Nissan Altima crossed the center line and struck head-on a 2023 GMC Acadia driven by Krisy Wood, 46, of Locust Grove, the preliminary fatal crash report said.

Stuckey’s car then traveled into the northbound lane and struck a 2018 Cadillac driven by Connie Smith, 62, of Clinton.

Stuckey suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Both Smith and Wood were taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
