West Memphis baseball tournament raises money for injured officer

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (WMC) - On Sunday in West Memphis, Arkansas folks came out for some baseball for a worthy cause.

Several law enforcement officials from Marion and West Memphis hosted a baseball tournament at the Tilden Rodgers Sports Complex.

The game was to to support one of their own, Sergeant Darrell Prewitt of the Marion Police Department. He was critically injured during a pursuit on the job.

West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon was also there on Sunday, in support the injured officer.

Back in April, Prewitt was struck by a vehicle while trying to apprehend Joshua Henry.

He was rushed to Regional One in critical condition.

All the proceeds from today’s tournament will go towards helping Sergeant Prewitt.
