Brookland School District expanding
BROOKLAND, Ark. (KAIT) - One of Arkansas’ “fastest-growing school districts” is getting bigger.
Haag Brown Commercial Real Estate and Development announced Thursday that Brookland School District had purchased 103 acres, located two miles northeast of the current campus along U.S. Highway 49B, between AR-230 and Craighead County Road 950.

“The acquisition of this new property for the Brookland School District will allow us to better serve our school and our community,” said Brookland School District Superintendent Brett Bunch. “With our growth and the vision of our school board, we will be able to continue to provide an exceptional education and job future for our students.”
According to the news release, the school has “reached max capacity, and traffic congestion has become a challenge.”
As for the public reaction to this news, many think it is what the school needed.
“Well, I think that is a pretty good thing,” said Amber Donald, who works in Brookland. “They can expand, have more room, and it’s more safe for the drivers and the kids.”
Those who live and work in Brookland also believe that this will help alleviate some of the traffic issues.
“Especially the long lines, everything being stopped up and blocked off,” said Donald. “I just think it is a good idea what they are deciding to do.
“That will definitely help with the traffic,” said Brookland resident Jacob Niles.
Haag Brown said Nabholz Construction will lead the project’s development, with the initial focus on constructing a “state-of-the-art intermediate school.”
