Caruthersville woman dies after vehicle strikes culvert
The crash happened Sunday morning on Missouri Highway 84
PEMISOCT COUNTY, Mo. (KAIT) - An 81-year-old Caruthersville woman died Sunday morning when her car ran off Missouri Highway 84, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a preliminary crash report that the incident happened about 9:30 a.m. on Missouri Highway 84, one mile east of Hayti.
The woman was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze westbound when the car ran off the left side of the roadway and collided with a culvert, the report said.
The woman was fatally injured and taken to Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital, where a doctor pronounced her dead at 10:33 a.m., the report said.
The woman was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. Her car was totaled, and her next of kin were notified.
