(KAIT) - In 1977 President Jimmy Carter nominated Elsi-jane Trimble Roy to be the first woman federal district court judge in the Eighth Circuit.
Judge Roy held the position for 21 years.
She also set other judicial first’s for women: As a circuit judge, on the state Supreme Court, and a federal judgeship.
