(CNN) - A United Airlines flight bound for Spain returned to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on Saturday.

United told People magazine the flight was forced to turn back after a “potential security concern.”

According to passengers’ social media posts, there was an active Bluetooth device on the plane that was particularly concerning.

The Bluetooth device was named “Bomb.”

Passengers were told multiple times to turn off Bluetooth devices during the flight, and the plane turned back about midnight.

It landed back at Newark without incident.

Passengers had to get off the plane while Port Authority Police and K-9s checked the plane, and they were rescreened by TSA before reboarding.

Airline staff told passengers they believed the incident was a “selfish joke.”

The flight eventually continued on to Spain with a new crew.
