JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A woman who claimed her 18-year-old ex-boyfriend beat and choked her Sunday told police she had to wait until he fell asleep before she could escape his apartment.

Craighead County District Judge David Boling found probable cause Monday to charge Asher Kai Revel with the following:

  • Kidnapping/false imprisonment, a Class C felony
  • First-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony
  • Aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony
  • Third-degree domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor

Police arrested Revel after responding to a domestic disturbance Sunday, May 31, on Caribbean Drive.

The victim told officers that Revel had asked her to come to his home around 7 that morning, court documents said.

When she arrived, the woman said Revel appeared to be under the influence and he “began being mean to her and telling her how much he hated her,” the affidavit said.

The victim said Revel slapped her face a couple of times then threw her onto the bed.

“At one point the victim attempted to leave the residence but Revel grabbed her throat and sat on top of her,” Detective Madison Dobbs said. “The victim stated that while she was being choked, there were several times where she could not breathe.”

Whenever the victim tried to leave, she said Revel threated to “blow her head off.”

The victim said she was finally able to leave around 2 p.m. when Revel fell asleep. Dobbs said the woman had redness behind her ear and her jaw was swollen.

Officers arrested Revel at his home and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center where he is being held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in circuit court on July 30.
