JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - You can’t win the lottery without playing it, but scammers are calling Arkansas residents claiming they’ve won millions in prizes anyway.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery stated that a caller is posing as a lottery representative and offering winning $1 million tickets to random phone numbers.

“Players can buy lottery tickets at licensed ASL retailers, but we do not offer winning lottery tickets or other monetary prizes over the phone,” ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong said.

Players who win Play It Again Second-Chance drawings may be contacted regarding the win; however, it only applies to non-winning instant tickets entered into the second-chance drawing.

If you get a phone call about random lottery prizes or drawings that you did not enter, the ASL advises not to respond.

Contact ASL Director of Investigations and Enforcement Blake Hudson at blake.hudson@arkansas.gov or the Arkansas Lottery Security Hotline at 1-888-606-6292 if a scammer reached out to you.
