Sunday, April 12, police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1900 block of Nettleton.

Detective Adam Hampton said when officers arrived, they found a man lying on the sidewalk with a stab wound to his neck. An ambulance transported the man to a local hospital.

Gibson told officers they had gotten into an argument that turned physical, but she denied stabbing the victim, the affidavit said.

During questioning at the police station, Gibson told Hampton the man hit her in the face and grabbed her hair, trying to pull her down. Instead, she said the man fell and she continued to hit him.

“At that point, she said the victim started bleeding from [his] neck, but denied stabbing him,” Hampton said in the court document. “I asked her if she had a knife at any point and she denied ever having a knife.”

When officers questioned the victim at the hospital, he stated Gibson started the fight and was hitting him when he began bleeding from the neck, but he claimed he never saw a knife.

“The attending doctor and nurses all agreed that the injury was a stab wound,” Hampton said.

After speaking with Gibson and the victim, Hampton said both were charged with domestic battery. The victim was cited with third-degree domestic battery and admitted into the hospital. Gibson was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center, where she remains awaiting a May 18 circuit court appearance.

Halsey ordered Gibson to have no contact with the victim.
